Veils of fog float in the graveyard
Embraced by darkness
Chillingly, a masoleum stands
Surrounded by time worn headstones
Fallen or knocked over by some trembling hand
Left behind in fear of the dead
Who call out to those willing to listen
"Come dance with us and welcome death"
The ghostly whisper seems to say as it is echoed all around
Souls doomed to eternal wandering
Trying to escape their doomsday prison
Reach out for the living
Wanting help from anyone brave
Not afraid of what might happen
When the spirits walk the earth with them
As the door between two worlds open
Ready to face the dark rider and his army
That will bring evil back to rule forever

ooo very dark and spooky, the ending has a very nice impact with much sensory description and imagery. I sense the sombre mood and feel the shivers in anticipation of fear. Very well done!

This is an appropriate read for me to start off Paranormal Awareness Week...not that I celebrate it, I'm just aware of it.

A very dark, chilling and well penned piece, Susan

Interesting....
..... I loved the write, however I would like to take issue with the comment left saying that the masons believe that Satan is God. I am not an expert on masonry or religion however, knowing a little about symbolism I could see that stretch being made, but doubt serioursly that this is true about any faith based organization. That being said I do have to say that posting such things it quite inflamatory and should not be done no matter what the poem content. Blushful I know this is a great write and I am sorry for standing on my soap box while visiting your poem, but I had to mention that!

Scary poem! I recently read that the last secret revealed when you're a Mason is that Satan is God!!!

Best of Luck in this contest!

Maureen
