Your essence lingers in my thoughts each day
I remember your smell, the sweet delicate fragrance
I miss how you made me smile in the mornings
How the glistening sun enhanced your beauty inside
I would look at you to reminisce of past encounters
With the one who brought you to me with love in mind
Those precious times come and go
Yet the thought of you remains
I close my eyes to grab a hold once more
The smell is fading, your essence dissolves
You no longer make me smile in the mornings
The sun beats down on what seems like ashes
Somehow I knew you could never stay
You were just a fleeting desire
One thing I could want
But would never have
Because... you were never here
He never brought me flowers
It was all just a dream
