When you talk,
I hope you say my name
And the words I need to hear;
Oh but you never do.
When you walk,
I hope you come this way
And follow my footsteps here;
Oh but you never did
When you sing,
I hope you'll sing my praise
And how you'll never forget;
Oh but you never have.
When you love,
I hope it's me you're after
And I'm the only one who'll do;
Oh but you haven't yet.
When I hope,
I hope you'll speak to me
And walk my way, singing;
Oh but you'll love me soon...
...as soon as I get the nerve to tell you my name.
Author notes
I don't care how old you are, you're never too old to have a crush. That hurts-so-good-pang and swoony feeling are all too familiar.
So what's the story you think is behind this poem?

This is so beautiful, and I agree entirely with your notes. Great job!
