We sat by bonfires
from sunset until dawn
wishing on each wave that past
but the summer still ended
and the yankees still won
and I never saw you again.

i love this... maybe because i like bonfires and baseball
but this also has that underlying civil war feel to it. that differences between can be battled through, but sometimes the wounds are too deep. i know this isn't about that, but your writing brings out deeper thoughts than just a simple story of what happened. i always find your writing has a tone that brings desires to the forefront of my mind.
no wonder i keep coming back to read
