Almond Eve's

Pourch swing swaying
on a cola breeze
I watched earth's golden
sky crying crisp leaves
all cascading softly
in heaps, piles.
Children kicking joyfully
playing in each yard
beauty burned and
smoke rose caressing
her broad arms strong,
old waiting for comfort.
Then her last leaf
dancing blanket's my lawn
our heart warmed
just looking at her hues.
Almond eve's of hot chocolate
barn fires roasted marsmellows
bring on compassionate smiles
as autumn closes her door.

Love the taste and vision of a cola breeze. The last four lines are stunning. This is rich and earthy, tasty with images and symbols bringing strong sensual responses. Excellent imagery stirs memories, raises the rake to my hand and laughter to my lips as children scatter my hard work.

    Love,
    Tom B.
