Sometimes I get scared,
You'd skip out on me.
If I told you what I am harboring.
There's something flourishing in my chest,
It flutters and it falls,
When I see you out of all the rest.
Its like music which can't be played,
Its like a forbidden taste.
When we both take a hit,
We're well off the ground.
Together we'll just trip,
Immersersed in all the sound.
I can't let you grace my lips,
Not even on the rebound,
If you choose to share a kiss,
I might never come down.
I promise,
You'll never hear this song.
Or the other three I wrote for you,
On this new album.
I have a hunch that when I spill my guts,
You'll feel rather strange,
Thinking about us.
We're like the music I can't play,
Your lips are a forbidden taste...
When we both take a hit,
We're well off the ground.
Together we'll just trip,
Immersersed in all the sound.
I can't let you grace my lips,
Not even on the rebound,
If you choose to share a kiss,
I might never come down.
Promise that you won't kiss,
I might not come down from this.

Author notes
We all know this story. You have a damn good friend, he or she's a lot of fun, you grow attached romantically, but don't want to say anything because you're afraid of damaging the friendship... Even though everyone who sees you two together says you have awesome chemistry...
Please tell me what you think

Glenn, this is amazing. You word things so beautifuly together, and you create so much beautiful imagery. Yes, I know this story well - you try to fight off being attatched to them and you can't help it. You have to keep quiet, you dont want to ruin things, and every time you are in their company its bitter sweet because there isnt anyone else you'd rather be with, but at the same time, its forbiden and can be damaging.
The flow and rhyme is exceptional. One of the best pieces you've ever written in my opinion. Very honest and pure.

Just amazing! I don't even know what to say about this! You've used great imagery, and I especially love,
"When we both take a hit,
We're well off the ground.
Together we'll just trip,
Immersersed in all the sound.
I can't let you grace my lips,
Not even on the rebound,
If you choose to share a kiss,
I might never come down"
Just beautiful <3 Great write!

Yeah, fear of rejection or of killing perfection
instead we dissect every piece for inspection
looking for praying for signs of affection
hiding our love out of fear of detection
in the end all you'll have is a vague recollection
every chance having died from your own expectation

I love this piece, It kinda reminds me of, Come down by Cracker (I think that's the band name).
Some of the wording.... Except theyre talking about Heroine....
I truly enjoyed this piece. The honesty and sincerity of it, but also the way you basically say that this is how it's always going to be. That you'd rather not taint what you got. I tottally dig it.
Good luck with this predicament!
