of mismatched socks must see
when finally out of sight and free
from my tyrannical control
they frolic gaily and cavort
and never think of me.
When they return (I should say If)
debauched, dirty and kind of stiff
from the lascivious things they've done
I welcome them home like the prodigal son
I understand young socks will err
and though I'm anxious to deter
their more objectionable behavior
I see forgiveness as a favor
and neither rant nor blow a gasket
but toss them in the laundry basket

More late night nonsense.

But excellent nonsense!
It's a very good point; many more poems should be written on this issue.
Spelliing is also a tyrant, and tyrannical has two 'n's, and 'lascivious' has a 'c'.

Aaagh! Thanks for the read and catching the two spelling errors! In editing (again) I realized that I had also misspelled debauched!!

The lost one will always return, if you throw the single one away...lol

Thank you so much! I have to say, I think you have uncovered a profound truth . . . the lost sheep does return in such circumstances. This is worth meditating upon, and a much more interesting topic than the state of the economy!
