Confession

Forgive me father, for I have sinned.
It's been two week's since my last Confession.
I got cross with Sister Mary Anthony
when she told me to empty Mr. Sullivan's bedpan.
I thought she was going to slap me --
so I emptied it with the best attitude
I could muster.
I hate emptying bedpans,
but I'll do it for the love of Jesus.
In school, I was late to Geometry --
which happened because I missed the bus
because my little brother
wouldn't let me in the bathroom
and I had to walk to school --
I did swear at him under my breath
but I asked God to forgive me
in chapel later that morning.
I have a dance recital next week
and I want to overcome
the terrible sin of gluttony
by then so I don't split my leotards
like I did a couple of years ago.
I watched two dogs doing the marital act
on the street Tuesday.
I giggled once during Mass...

Author notes

She is such a cute pumpkin. I hope all turned out well for her -- and that she didn't become a nun, a teacher, or nurse -- or worse: all three.

What an imaginative piece, love the idea of a confessional and all the everyday life guilt trip such a good introspection of the human mind nicely done.
I enjoyed reading the AN as well.

This is both imaginative and humorous - and also an excellent and apt interpretation of the picture prompt.

    Good one,
    Bill

I love the thing about feeling guilty over watching two dogs. What a great take on the photo to envision this fresh faced little Maureen at the confessional, as the substitute for a photo booth, pouring her heart out over all her sinful ways, and which we would normally never be privy to, but it really does capture why she would be tittering or embarrassed in just this way. This really made me chuckle.

You've given the picture a real voice and personality here, very well done!

Best of luck in the contest.
