Fields burning, slowly turning
the fires bend but do not kneel
to the whisper of the wind
the ever blowing wind
ashes unfold, balanced on her back
our Earth weeps and trembles under the attack
the attrocious attack
while embers twinkle and rise like so many fireflies
disappearing into the night skies
the cool night skies
somewhere out there hardened souls stare into the void
callous and unaffected by the destruction they've deployed
...yet the world keeps turning...the wildfires burning
carried upon the air
the calm infectious air
now comes Mother Nature extending gracious hand
to wipe away the sins bestowed upon the land
to make the vine ripe and bountiful once more
but,...how far will she go before she chooses to ignore
the prayers of those who would be her cancer
I fear the day we will find the answer
...the unescapable, horrible answer

This is a thought prokoving work, beautifully accented by vivid language and perfect imagery. I greatly enjoyed reading this and wish you the best of luck in this contest.
