I'm not the kind of person who will hide behind a screen
especially for my beliefs, upon my truth I lean.
I'll not be changed to fit a mold of what others' think of me
just for the sake of friendship, I simply cannot be.
Take me for good points and faults, because that's who I am,
a mask to cover my ideals will make me just a sham.
I give you what's important and that's sincerity,
I don't come with any 'use by' date , nor any guarantee.
Oh yes I'll often hide my feelings, when pain grips with it's claws,
that's when I wish to be alone and from the world withdraw.
But that's so very different, from standing up for what I believe
the tapestry of who I am is that inner faith I weave.
Accept me as I am or not and if you don't I'll go
no malice is intended, but together we can't grow.
To hide behind a shroud of lies will benefit no one
and friendship built on such as this, will surely come undone.
