The quiet creak of metal
Shaped around that of beauty
Cruelty in it's very forms
Piercing through the rainbow
Colours clearly defined
As your beautiful wings upon
Hoping to take flight
Against the breaking dawn
Such an extraordinary silver
A glimmer of reality
As our truth is lost
Amongst the muddy slopes
The mixture of such beauty
With the disgusting silver
Such a piercing and harsh reality
Matched with imagination
Can you not find your way?
Caught between the extremes
As reality cuts you deeply
And imagination bleeds
Right into your open palm
Watching the desperate struggle
As the butterfly whispers slowly
The deepest wounds
Of not being able to fly
A depiction of reality
As it fights quietly
Trying to outshine this beauty
Preparing for certain extinction
Oh my BarbedWireButterfly
How will you ever fly?
Without falling into the void?
The harshest truth matched with pooling blood?
Or the comfort of imagination and painful isolation?
Author notes
Obviously, 2. Write about your author name.
I thought the options weren't suitable for me, but I decided to give it a shot =D
My authors name, BarbedWireButterfly, was quiet easy to work with.

I don't even know what to say. I have never read a poem by you that did not stun me with its imagery or brutalize me with the emotions. This is no exception. It was extraordinary. You did a beautiful job with the prompt you chose.
Thanks for entering the contest & best of luck.
Write on.

This is interesting, I always find challenges like this quite hard...you've done well in producing an emotional and intruiging piece.
