I have realised a dream today
a weird old dream
that has jumped suddenly
into today’s actuality.
I lost my glove last night
somewhere on my way home
and as everyone knows
it takes two hands to clap
(softly of course wearing gloves...)
I woke up in a trance
realising how my destiny
could tango with bold symbolism.
I had lost my alter ego
along the path and this is why
my mirror had a frown
above a surprised look.
I had to be determined
run back to the bus stop
where I was, it was essential
so I could reconnect with
the inner child in me
who claps at life circus.
I ran out in the dark
staring at the ground
unaware for a while
that I looked like a ghost
a ghostly ghost to say the least.
In my rush to find
the other part of my exuberance
that keeps me warm and applauds softly
I ran into the street in my nightie.
Many times as a child, I had done it
in my dreams and finally
this loop in my subconscious life
is completed...
there on the pavement
abandoned in cold darkness
lays the other half of my enthusiasm.
