I’m getting ready to go trick or treat.
Glowing orange pumpkins line the street.
There are children in costumes and spooks galore.
I run up and knock on my neighbor’s door.
This costume hides my identity.
My neighbor doesn’t know it’s really me.
I make a scary sound and hold out my bag.
His dog steps outside and his tail wags.
He knows it’s me but he just can’t say.
I try to shoo him far away!
That dog keeps barking. He won’t sit down.
He starts running around and around!
He tugs at my clothes and barks out loud.
This scene is gathering a little crowd.
He just won’t hush, he won’t behave.
The other children laugh and then they wave.
I have to go now and run back home.
I’ve got to get that dog a doggone bone!
Then maybe at last he will leave me alone!
Please tell me what you think

It was light and fun. Made my day! -
You have a wonderful talent and your poem was wonderfully penned. I like how your stanzas were couplets and then how you ended with a Tercet. I loved it, and I love Halloween. Again this is a really good write, I loved it.

Great!
This is a fun, lighthearted poem that brought a smile - hehehe - my favorite part is the last stanza - especially line 18. The background you chose is cool too.
