twelvewholemonths;
and you finally gathered the frayed nerves
it took to find me in the mass of everything.

finally mine.

and she thinks she knows who is and
who is not deserving of a place inside your calloused
r i b c a g e.


but i'm only counting the notches on your
headboard to prove a point to myself;

i'm going to try and be everything she thinks
that i
won't.

because one day;
i will be happy like sunrays
and sandcastles,

and maybe i'll keep track of the minutes it
took to get me there, but maybe
i won't have to.


i will fight for this smile;
and i'd die to prove i'm worth your time.
