The Birth Of A Poem

 red rain drop ripples Wallpaper

It starts off as a raindrop

falling before my feet

I stand back to watch

as it slowly slides down

reaching my toe

it starts to enter my skin

carefully making its way up

revitalizing and inspiring

that special place within my heart

I can feel its trail deep inside

somehow it reproduces itself

leaving me lost in a giant pool

awakening my muse and inspiration

my ideas start to pour over

like a waterfall filled with my emotions

my eyes begin to wander

fingers feel around the desk

in search of the one thing

that will bring it all together

hands wrap tightly around it

thoughts and emotions

start to flow uncontrollably

racing through my shoulders

down to my hand that grips the pen

like a god I give life to a canvas

my words spill forth filling each page

letters sometimes jumble

words start to overlap

I close my eyes for a minute

take a deep breath

then slowly but surely

letters rearrange themselves

words take shape like building blocks

becoming complete thoughts

my canvas becomes complete

I sit back to review my work

my soul sighs in contentment

as another raindrop falls

inspiring the very heart of me

I turn to a fresh page

lose myself in it all over again

Great job! This really portrays what happens before you start to write - I too have that problem when the letters all jumble up A fantastic read! I look forward to seeing more of what you write

Just wonderful! Yes, that's exactly how it is! I hate it when those letters all jumble together! I see they are but need to write those rushing thoughts before I lose them, but those jumbled letters rankle at me.
You wrote this perfectly. Love it

This is very creative. I really liked how you descibed the rain in this and then in the end; making it about a poem inside. A creative piece. Thanks for entering and good luck.

  • The labor pains that accompanied this birth were as incredible as the ones at childbirth.
I guess because writing is so much like giving birth. I love your title and how your poem gave it life.

wow... so incredibly like the feeling. You know how to descibe throught perfectly using wesome metaphors and language. great poem.

  • Writing is a wonderful thing, sometimes. It is during the moments of our searching for what will bring it all together that it can be a curse. Nicely penned my friend.
