Bureaucracy

Life is a commodity to most of you
something to shuffle around and misuse
figures in your profit and debit columns
you don't care if you wipe out thousands

Merely something for you to profit by
you decide who is to live and to die
there is a power much greater than you
some day the foot will be in the other shoe~

When on your death bed and wondering why
no body cares whether you live or die
wishing you had put more thought into life
caring more about others' suffering and strife

as you're taking your last breath and about to die
will you find comfort to know your life was a lie?
is there any consolation for you to ponder and know
that the life you lived has nothing meaningful to show?

Will it ease your conscience when you finally die
that your life is also just a commodity in others' eyes?
and you were used as a tool and nothing more
for you never looked beyond that closed door

What you sowed in life, so shall you reap
don't expect others to care when you finally weep
Is there comfort in knowing that there will be a day
that you will become a figure in your own callous survey?

Your life thrived on manipulation, greed and oppression
Mark this ~ the day will come when you will learn a lesson!

Author notes

This is based on one of the most horrific betrayals of my life. When Kaiser Permanente Hospital lied and kept the truth from us and it resulted in the death of my mother. They are all about profit, (even though they claim to be non-profit,) and they allow people to die to save money. I think this represents many organizations that do not have humanity... It can also be anyone who doesn't care about others' pain, only cares about only about the dollar and has no compassion.

Can you tell I was angry when I wrote this?!!!! http://www.kaiserthrive.org/category/kaiser-permanente-lawsuits/

your words are like poisoned darts, aimed at those callous enough to let a human suffer because of money, was life simpler when there was only trade and no coins?

I suffer with you and your loss.

This is a strong write, very powerful in the emotional front, very confronting, well done and thank you for entering my contest
