Secrets That Surfaced

The bridges we trusted so well,
Collapsed right before our eyes.
We inhale all the memories.
As right before us; everything dies.

A few steps add to a mile.
Until I can no longer feel your touch.
I was far enough to escape regret.
But the past reminds me of too much.

::Chorus::
I need time to heal all these wounds.
My hands shake with complete fear.
Let me bleed from these broken pieces.
In a single night; shattered a whole year.
I need space to hear my heart.
Too many screams have left me impaired.
Let me listen for the truth I grew to ignore.
In a single moment; a whole life was born.
I need reasons to see what this is all meant for.

The stop sign leaves me standing still.
No warning tells me to keep driving.
I'm left to look both ways on this road.
Out of the corners, creeps what has been hiding.

::Chorus::

All that's left is to face the secrets that surfaced.
They hover over the truth that escaped.

    This has a really nice rhythm, and I think could very easily be set to a guitar tune.
    I like how it's straight forward, but a little abstract at the same time.

    I need reasons to see what this is all meant for. - the ending rhyme here seems a little forced. I think it just stands out because the rest of it flows so well.

    In all, I am quite impressed!
