Why should someone so young
be troubled so deeply;
usual tough, witty self now uptight,
worried sick...
Feeling so voiceless
in a vast chasm filled
with nothing but the echos of a
tiny, thundering heart;
weak and weary
fearful of tomorrow
Walls around taunt with mockery
of whispering haunts of mind
as wide-eyed child stares onward
in no direction;
face wet with watery tears.
More fall as young one realizes
how wasteful those droplets are;
they cannot change tomorrow
nor the past.
