your eyes are dark
like warm chai tea
and
wet earth
that reaches
miles and
miles
to hold the salt seas
that Persephone
was held
under.

Nicely done. One part modernity, one part classic. It is a nice blend for a warm fall evening. I enjoyed the imagery.

Charmed
The longing in the first seven lines, speaking to promise and the feeling that it is out of reach. Then, the simple twist of a classical analogy keeps the sense of a dream, but speaks, as well, to the promised hope of spring. Salt seas brings a dash of tears, nicely flavoring the sense of ache, between the title and brown images I am led back to Persephone and how beginnings feel like losses with a thread of hope twisted into the fabric.
Love,
Tom B.
