Do you hear those whispers
When the bell rings
And she walks down the hall
When she passes them?
Well I don't think
That she's any different from you
Because you can't stand her shy side
And you don't deserve her good side
We're like oysters in the same sea
Some just don't open up so quickly
But if you knew what she was inside
You'd realize her pearl is shinier than yours
And she's shy sometimes
But she becomes an eagle when she flies
Don't tell her the sky's the limit
Because she's flown past it all
So do you see her now?
Laughing with her friends, having a good time
Just like the way you do with yours
Because she's just like you
Does she need to be cool to have friends?
Does she need to be popular to laugh?
Does she need to be talkative to have a good time?
Does she have to reveal her other half?
She doesn't need to reveal her other half
She always has a good time
She laughs as much as I do
And she has friends because she's mine

I love the message in this poem. It says a lot and if only people young and old would listen and take it to heart, it would be great. We should never shun people because they are shy or for any other reason just because they are different. I think you gave your friend an awesme tribute. Just goes to show that you don`t need rhyme to write a good poem. I find that a really serious subject does not need rhyme at all, it makes it sound frivolous. Humorous poems yes, then rhyme enhances.
