he labeled me
sticking post-its on my forehead
to shove in folders of forgotten,
he smiled
a job well done
moving on
but I tracked lines of disbelief
as I scratched his memory
from my everything
I am not that easy,
that predictable,
a few words of anything
love me, hate me,
but search between lines
of journal entries
to see, spending moments
drawing diagrams
don't dismiss with
facile phrases
that soothe your journey
to the door.

i like the simplicity of this. i think that is what made it so powerful. if anything else was tacked on, it just wouldn't have worked as beautifully as it did here. good execution, good content, strong emotion. yeah, i like this a lot.
