broken camera lenses
studio pipe bombs and
heroin-thin actresses
bombard sweaty city
with every lash of lust
police route shakes latino
gang members' underpants
futile pleading backwash
a truly forgotten afterthought
i'm sure once you were pretty
before you set foot here
and your eyes turned into
steadfast green checks
hungry for the world
in one immense gulp
lights so blinding
can't remember what
california looked like
before l.a.
perhaps it was
a flower garden
or a swamp

Quote/inspiration
10-Tip the world over on its side and everything loose will land in Los Angeles. -- Frank Lloyd Wright
perhaps the title is too predictable and bland but i tried too many and that one stuck.

some cities leave everyone going to bed a bit more starving than the night before.

There's this Neko Case song called In California in which the last line is, "They tell me LA's/Beautiful/When it rains."
And it always makes me think that LA must be one of the worst places on earth. I also hate cities and crowds and skinny women, so I would probably hate LA.
I love the last two lines. The images are so different from each other and really sort of funny. -
OH I LOVE THIS.
