quit smoking

She suffers with cancer, found in her lung;
though she's the wrong side of 40 -
and still so young.

Her pain is atrocious when she tries to
breathe, and though she's on loads of
drugs there doesn't seem to be any relief.

With no energy to move, and her body
wracked with pain, from the clots all
flared up and moving in her vein.

The chemo didn't work, but made her
so ill, now she's on a targeted therapy
to work - but we don't know if it will.

Our lives now upsidedown, and the future
unclear, how could I stand to lose someone
that I love so dear?

When you reach for a smoke, to yourself just
admit, that lung cancer could take over you
if you don't quit....

Author notes

My sister was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in July, aged 29. She's never smoked in her life, and the doctors don't understand why she has lung cancer so young, with no visible reason. If you're trying to give up smoking, go to lung cancer sites, or maybe even read my recent poetry. I think that the thought of cancer shoudl be enough to make ANYONE give up if they truly want to. it's terrifying...
