because after all,
so were you...
Cold, callous, and unforgiving,
as I remember you.
You danced with the devil,
as I fiddle with confusing memories;
trying to recall you.
Endless sorrow,
flows down my cheeks.
You thought yourself invincible,
true enough...
you did resist the wiles of my emotions..
Just another lover,
I suppose.
That just goes to show,
I thought our connection; Dynamic.
What did I know?
Now;
Darkened apartment, dusty bed...
without your passion,
the couch is now where I lay my head.
Has it been months? Years?
Since you were here?
I can not hear,
with the relentless ringing in my ears..
from this bed you fled,
wouldn't it be more simple if you were dead?
Instead, I struggle with the reality..
that your new apartment is just above my head...

I loved that you used my statement as your title...that you managed to find inspiration from it.
I also loved how you incorporated the title into your poem, making it part of it.
You danced with the devil,
as I fiddle with confusing memories;
Strong emotion there... learning nothing, and yet sensing the struggle....
I loved the loose rhyme scheme you had going on, the odd word here and there gave it an easy flow whilst you read.
This was also rather sad...
Maybe death would be simpler, but then you'd have to mourn as well as cope...
OH WOW...
The last bit, it made this poem go from good, to great!
Imagine having to deal with that??!!
I don't know how true this is for you, I can hope it's not...So near, and yet so far...
So close, and yet so distant...
Still, at least you'll know where to find him...Which means you'll know how to avoid him.

Awesome
Boy, now I would really find it hard to know he was just upstairs. This is truly well written, good emotion, good flow and an element of surprise. Good luck in the contest
