The bloodless moon hides beneath the silver-stricken clouds
as the music of empty bottles carve in the air;
rapid sunken breaths of promise and rapture wither
in nicotine-plated embers underneath our feet.
The night appeared endless to our naive-tainted eyes
in the form of indulgent skin and inviting lips;
a sense of longing crawled into our innocent souls
and slowly poisoned the veins that once defined our youth.

PROMPT EIGHT
These children learn from cigarette burns,
fast cars, fast women and cheap drinks.
All these asphyxiated self medicated
take the while pill, you’ll feel all right

I love this song for a few reasons. One of them being that this particular part as nothing to do with the song as a whole, which just is ironic, but ok wow. This is absolutely fantastic. "our naive tainted eyes" What a fantastic line. This whole thing was amazing. The last line was an extra added punch. Finalist! Thanks for taking the time to enter, and good luck!!
