Angelic Suicide

As the angel sits alone,
Thinking about home,
Her thoughts turn grim,
Thinking about him.

Love was in her heart,
They promised they'd never part,
Along the way,
Things went astray.

He grew apart from her,
Everything became a blur,
Tears began to fall,
As she curled up in a ball.

Broken wings sit upon her back,
Walking along a dirt track,
In her dreams, she sees his face,
Asking him why he left without a trace.

He disappears from view,
"My love will always be true,"
A whisper from the darkness,
"Mine too," is her remark.

Trying to hold on for dear life,
Staring and staring at a silver knife,
Contemplating her next move to make,
Not being able to withstand the ache.

She picks up the blade,
Looking upwards, she prayed,
"Let him know my love is true,
"Please tell him, adieu."

As the curtains come to a close,
Left behind, a single black rose,
A tragic act has been committed,
To death, the angel submitted.

Author notes

I wrote this while listening to Angel by Sarah McLachlan and Promise Of A Lifetime by Kutless. This poem is dedicated to Chris, my ex-boyfriend. I love him so much and it is killing me to be broken up with him. We were together for 7, almost 8 months. I gave him everything in the world and I will always love him.
