Sweep the Resistance

Patience
Side by side with persistence,
To overcome a world of resistance,

Fear,
Control the majority,
Power owned by those in authority

Another dead hero mourned by the masses,
Marked by devastation as the war passes,
Soon another to take its place,
Turn the land and population to waste,

Time goes by the past were forgetting,
The future repeats the horror that were letting,
Take our lives,
Our families,
All because authority is decisive,
A land consumed by corpses of the dead,
Tainted valleys where carnage is spread,
Break this messed up chain of corruption,
With this 'I don’t give a dam' political interruption,
I’m not one of your pigs for the slaughter,
Your remote machine for which the war is fought for ya’,
Hide behind your desk of many papers,
In your thousand dollar suit ya tailors, cooks and waiters,
You walk the lands where the war is fought,
You look at the carnage your decisions have brought,
You...
Yes you fight your own war

  • I really enjoyed this one. I can feel the fire, the anger, though I have one suggestion. On the last big stanza, I would work with the flow just a bit. Besides that, very raw, very powerful, and very good.

A powerful poem with strong feelings expressed. Its a powerful photo that evokes strong reactions! For me, the structure and rhyme work well. I feel the emotion but have a sense of some distance. It strikes me as a strong statement rather than an intimate look into your feelings. I could be entirely out to lunch. The poem is well written and I very much agree with your point of view. Thanks for entering my contest and best of luck!

I love how this poem rhymes, very nice description of what war does. I'm overwhelmed by your work and again thank you, I shall take my leave now. I'll be back to read more. Good luck in this contest as for the others you've joined.
