to eat my chocolate unnoticed
quietly enjoying its decadence
for I have no desire to change
grant me courage to accept
that I am hopelessly addicted
and save my money for the finest
for I have no desire to change
no wisdom is required
to just enjoy this simple pleasure
no differences are expected
for I have no desire to change

Such a sweet poem, my dear! I wanna eat it with desire! Hope things are ok with you. Love ya

Ah, Catz. I see you secreted away,
filling your tall, green goblet
with fine chocolate! And of
course, there you are
coming out of the
closet with
chocolate
on your
face!
Great one, Dee

Dear Catz,
Something mysterious is happening. I am trying to catch up on my overdue commenting but as soon as I "submit comment" it disappears together with the applause I've given. Later, the author give me 5 stars for my comment and it reappears. Why is this happening?
I am sure the Almighty will hear your prayer and forgive you and all of us our sins.
If He hadn't meant us to eat chocolate, why would He have placed its temptation before us? Part of our Lord's Prayer says "...and lead us not into temptation...."
Mind you, I don't need much leading!! LOL.
Best of luck in the voting.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)
PS: Please note Rule No.1?

Thank you for the comment, Hugh

Ummm... as for rule # 1, it says no black backgrounds. This background isn't black it's chocolaty brown. I thought it appropriate for the poem.

So it is!! LOL Just goes to show I'm getting colour-blind as well. Mebbe it's this 'flu?

Perhaps you don't know this, Hugh, but if you don't want the background to show on a poem, just go to the right sidebar under "View Options" and you'll see "Hide Background" Click on that and it'll clear the backgrouns so you can see the poem better.
This might be better than not allowing black backgrounds in our contests. Some of us like to use the black sometimes on certain poems.
Something to think about
Love and
Dee

This is original and creative use of a well known passage. I like the refrain, because I would not give up chocolate either, and I am fully in sympathy with buying only the best. Cheers, hugs and good luck!

May your prayers be answered and may you never have to change!

BEST OF LUCK in this contest!

Excellent!
You are enticing me to sweeting
more by just this simple reading!
I happen to have some Herschies
They're waiting for the eating,
and guaranteed
they're sugar-freed
even strict diet I'll be beating!

-
wonderful
This was just the kind of fun and uplifting poem I needed to read. Who knows maybe I'll go indulge myself with some sweets in a bit. I loved the play on the prayer and the never wanting to change part. Good Luck in the contest.

Geee, Dee.... I ADORE this! Especially all the fourth lines!

Dear Dee,
I think God will forgive you for your love of chocolate, they say it's good for the soul and a fantastic mood lifter so it can't be all bad. I loved reading your poem and will be happy when I can once again write some poetry. Good luck in the voting.
Love Joan

I agree with the previous comments, In my case I'd have to add grant me a guilt free conscience after indulging a little too much ... not that I do you understand lol
good luck in the contest

-
This is a very clever take on the Serenity Prayer as relating to the prompt.
I have no desire to change in this respect myself. lol
Best wishes in the contest, Dee.

Oh, Dee . . .
my dad went shopping the other day, and he bought "fun size" candies. (I never did understand why they call the little ones "fun size" . . . I think a 20 pound butterfinger would be MUCH more fun, but I digress...)
anyway, there is now a bowl of little chocolates on the bar, and I've been munching far too many.
Reading this silly little poem gave me a great big smile.
thank you for sharing, and best of luck!

My favorite bumper sticker: "Just hand over the chocolate and no one will get hurt."
Good luck in the contest, Sweetie.
