Some for financial gain and/or entertainment, scientific research, and numerous other reasons or excuses.
Some cultures even skin animals alive....its sickening.
Animals have emotions & feel pain !!

and I let each Entrant know firstly-

You took the prompt and brought forth much for my Mind to feast upon~
Bravo!! When I digest words written, images come through that grab hard...
This is what was shown to me~
Woven Strengths: Oh My Word~ while reading I kept being shown how
animals tested in lab- do not understand why this Man is doing this to him
I am shown a monkey being poked-prodded with electrodes from skull~
all in the name of science even though this experiment would not yield viable
information- it was just to play around with a theory at the expense of a
few lab rats (so to speak) So many of these Secret Laboratories...go unchecked...and unregulated...that countless Animals are sent to their deaths
Adore the reference to: Tears burn and fall in shame...
It tears at Spirit to Imagine those Voiceless Creatures...used-abused and
tossed like trash~ Painful to Envision
Skinning animals alive...as You mention in the Author's Notes...
that in itself...is barbaric~ it is Unimaginable to think Man does to Man...
but to do to a helpless Animal~ is quite sickening
Love how You brought a proposal~ in Your last stanza...Opens the Mind

Cruelty of any kind sickens me to the core "J", But then some people make me feel the same way.Dog fighters, badger baiters, the list is endless my friend. I fail to understand what possible pleasure can be found in such inhumane acts.Fight for those that have no fight left, and yet they are still prepared to trust and offer unconditional love. We could all learn a thing or two from them that's for sure... Bless you so much for bringing their plight to the fore..God bless you...mal

Nothing tears my heart as much as the cruelty inflicted on our animal co habitants, my father used to say he had more time for animals than people...I think a little bit of that rubbed off onto me.
I always think about people who ditch thier dogs on the hiway when they're off on vacation, that is the saddest and most cruel thing, in my opinion it's worse than beating them

It always breaks my heart seeing an animal with such sad eyes looking out at me from a cage, or reaching out with their paws as I walk by, just wanting some attention.
