Recognising who I won this for, or Why

Before I begin my speech
To my fans I must reach;
I achieve what I do,
Only through you.
Your love of the piece
And passion without cease
Encourages my hands
To meet your demands.

For those who me taught,
Look what I've wrought,
A piece worthy of acclaim,
That might bring me fame,
But I am so humble,
In case I should stumble
As I return to my chair
With this recognition so fair.

So I bid you all Adieu,
And repeat, "thank you"

    Sentiment I hoped for

Lovely sincerity in this piece, and true humble feeling. This is the sort of sentiment I had hoped to hear in this contest. I did wonder a bit about who inspired you? Were they classic poets or perhaps some writers on AllPoetry? I would love to know the pen names of some inspiring poets here on the site, (my clandestine reason for starting this contest is I am looking for a particular style of writing, and the names of such writers). I enjoyed your submission. Thanks for entering!

      Appreciation

Thank you very much for your feedback. I was suprised with how the poem ended up, I am sure I am not alone in this contest when I say I really tried to envision myself collecting the award on stage! This piece was also the first time I have not entered a PW into a contest, having only been a member on AP for two days now; perhaps I can cite that as the reason I made my errors!
I have always had a strong love of the metaphysical poets, most notably John Donne. Perhaps he is my greatest influence and I aspire to write like him one day. However, I always like Robert Browning and Kipling (I am from the UK after all). I am using the name Alexander. CL for my pieces on here.
      Again, thank you.
