A Reprise Of Hallelujah

Crimson stains the floor
Of the apartment I first
Let you ravage my body,
And upon the infested walls
In your fine tipped rust
I carve out a single word
"Hallelujah"

Upon the balcony you shattered me
The angels avert their view
Now knowing I am damned.
Gripping your remains I howl
A single word so sacred
As I remember the end
"Hallelujah"

The sun will never rise
I know I will never die
As I feel the dull pain
Of your hand upon
My exposed heart
I whisper a single thought
"Hallelujah"

I trace the flames
Upon my skin
Knowing I will soon
See you once again
(Though I know you
Long only to sleep)
I sing to the lucidity
Saying but a single word
"Hallelujah"

Author notes

A dark revenge poem that I believe deserves a chance despite its bizarre imagery and somewhat weak rhyming. I think the actual imagery can carry the poem past its minor flowing problems, but eh. I'm proud of it.

Beautiful. There aren't many who can take such a simple word and transform it into such endless meanings. So lovely and sad and dark and gentle. So many emotions. So well done.
