How was my day, you dare ask?
My night was buried in a silver flask!
My damn head pounds ever so hard!
And work has caught me way off guard.
Last night’s therapy has me up in a tizzy.
I’m trying so hard just to keep myself busy.
My shrink is pissed ‘cuz I showed up drunk.
I wish I still was to get me out of this funk.
Been playing on the computer all day long.
Ignoring the pain and faking being strong.
But the inner angst and despair eats me alive,
I smile at co-workers, nod my head to survive.
Shuffling paper here and there and everywhere,
I head to an empty office and say a quick prayer:
“Please God get me through another of these days.”
Called foxhole praying in exchange of praise.

Absolutely loved this!!! Loved the structure, rhyme and flow... Wow, you so accurately describe a "day after drunk"... The physical, mental pain, anguish, guilt, etc... The last two lines are a perfect ending... Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest...
Peace,
Russell
