My hand hovers above the stack
Tingle of gypsy power
Flowing through my finger tips.
Time for the choice to fall.
Pull the card in the middle.
What card of fortune will try
To control my destiny today?
The Fool grins at me
From his cursed canvas.
Beginnings follow beginnings;
Ends are beyond the cliff.
Dog at his heels
Neither begs nor bites.
The Fool's whispers are blessed
When he is natural:
New starts, fun, and life
With a little craziness
Are waiting for me
Beyond the card.
When he is reversed,
The Fool grows angry:
Stalemate, reluctance,
And naivete follow
Like the loyal dog
Following at his feet.
Gypsy hand returns the card
To the spirit of the future
Within the stack.
Nothing will change my destiny
As it speaks to me
Through faces of strangers
Forever painted in mismatched scenes
On cards barely blessed
With water, salt, incense, and flame.
Author notes
I'm big on tarot and decided to write a series of poems related to the major arcana. The Fool is the first card--- card Zero. If you have any questions, just message me. All I ask is for everyone to please refrain from religious rants. Thank you!
Judge as you will

i know nothing of tarot cards, but this seems like an interesting poem and i like the perspective you took and the attention to detail in every line. i especially like the lines:"Tingle of gypsy power
Flowing through my finger tips.
Time for the choice to fall." what power you fingers are feeling!!! i like how you describe the movement of your hands and the stack of cards in the first and last part and the personification of the cards in the middle.

Eeee! Thanks! It's not often I actually TRY when I write to make others understand something I feel. Everything usually just spills out on its own. This time, however, I really want to introduce others to a little piece of my world...a piece that makes me...me. Ha ha ha! A lot of people don't really think about Tarot or they do tarot readings with the thoughts of "they are just cards". It's almost like that goofy Yugioh show: Tarot cards have a heart to each card, and the major arcana more than the rest. They are each alive. I REALLY want to make others see this part of me! Thanks very much!!!!
