The End is Another Beginning

So this is how it ended
Not with words or voice
But with a mutual thought
Too late for any other choice
A sip of tea drains down
Warming my wayward heart
Gravity holds the ink on
The past always held us apart
I find sympathies and apologies
Have all been repeated before
The leaves reminding me
Of all the regret on the floor
Stories of it all echo around
Memories I pretend to forget
I sift through the chaotic mess
Questioning why we even met
Then an old song drains down

That sweet sound of “Amazing Grace”
“Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness”
“That saved a wretch like me”
“So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross
‘Til my trophies at last I lay down”
I have counted everything as loss

The only Love that is True

“I once was lost but now am found”
“On Christ the Solid Rock I stand”
“There is no greater thing”
“All other ground is sinking sand”

My righteousness

“Was blind but now I see”
That nothing I could ever do
Would stop Your love for me
I feel Your gravity hold my heart
Your streams of life drain down
I look at all You’ve done for me
“And trade it someday for a crown”
