Whispering Aromas

As I open the shades of cobweby ventilators of childhood memories
And the sunshine of golden remembrance pours into
The musty ,dusty corridors of yesteryears
Misting my eyes with dewdrops of emotions condensed on eyelids
Through  the gateway  of olfactory pleasures enter aromas of the past
Their faded realms are still vibrant with anecdotes of past
That replay like movies on mind's cinemascope
With floral revelations blossoming on threshold of recognition

These aromas faded but yet vividly reminiscent enter my soul
And as they spread their aromatic breath
Whispering like the wind and rustling leaves in my soul's ears
Tides of memories come flooding in waves
And the coronets of sublime foam of moments
Glisten on their foreheads like gems on a tiara

The  appetizing aroma of grandmothers pickle  was softly whispering
Of those summer afternoons when they dried in the sun
And the aroma entered my room to tantalize and tickle
My nostrils and make me drool for spicy delights

The fragrance of the roses that my mother planted
Nurturing the meadows with the elixir of her love
That which crept into my rom through the window
On the chariot of the whimsical breeze
To tell me of the herald of spring
Has also whispered anecdotal lines to my soul

The whisper of the aroma of rich coffee echoes aloud
For it knows itself as one of the treasured memories of my past
When steaming aromatic coffee and discussions with my father
Were the highlights of my insipid existence

The aroma of tea leaves that was embroidered in my breathe
Also whispered softly to remind me of forays of solitude in tea gardens
That stretched limbs of dewy emerald softness in my childhood's alleys
And brought rejuvenation to my tired soul, yet again

The rich aroma of chocolates was not to be ignored as it hissed
For they were my passionate ruin of a lifetime
And always uplifted my dejected moods with their ambrosiac sweetness
Melting on my tongue to ward away all sorrow and pain

The earthy smell of the wet soil after the rain
And the aroma of saffron as it blended in milk to stain
The sublime  liquid manna with the colour of sunshine

The scented potpourri that floated in crystal bowls
And welcomed every person with a fragrant embrace
Smell of fresh handpicked mangoes ripely golden
And that  citrus aroma of oranges eaten in the winter
The fumes of petrol had a smell that wasin triguing to me
As a mysterious whisper from past reminded me

Lost in the aromatic delights of the past
I feel replenished, rejuvenated by those aromatic memories
And as I sit with a reminiscent smile still on my lips
The present smells in my life crowd all around
These were aroma that never ever filled me with delight
For i hid behind the facade of impenetrable indifference
Unwilling to waste precious moments in smelling my environs

But now they clamour for my attention
Enveloping the breeze that enntered innocently
With a cocktail of smells , exotic, sweet, appetizing
Each yearning to be a part of my guilded memory
Like the fragrance of the peacock's love lingers
In the cerulean plumage preserved in a diary
Even making the musty yellowed pages redolent...

I really enjoyed this piece. I loved the broad vocabulary you used. It showed great creativity and talent. This was also a great take on the prompt, bringing me back to childhood memories. The only thing I would say is that it’s a little long for my taste, but that’s just me. I have a short attention span. Thanks for entering my gazillion prompt contest. It’s an honor to read your work!

Seriously, you've got such a great talent with creating imagery!
This is a brilliant piece. One can smell each little thing you've described here just as easily as if it were sitting beside them! Another amazing piece

    wow

Very long poem. I can smell the aromas just by the color of everything. It's also a full poem full and rounded there are no skimpy lines. It sounds like someone who's just standing there. In the air. I can feel the outside, although I don't want to be outside right now so I may be a bit biased.
