I can look out at the sky and see brilliant wonder
vibrant blues meld with the gem-tone greens of the trees
auburns, rust, sun kissed goldenrod all burst before me
each pebble mocking me, mimicking my every move
"hush" says the wind "Hushhhhh" blowing through my hair
I run to a nearby tree and rest against its knobby visage
fingers trace age spots and fissures that make it exquisite.
I circle the tree, tugging on daintily extended boughs
rustling the molting leaves around its precious face.
berries fall upon my face, dripping life into my pores
the whole tree shakes and trembles at the sound
"Huuussshhh" my child, the wind cries, nearly screaming.
The clouds, angry and filled with rage close in
Shadow dancers fill the voids, circling my beloved.
Quickly, i reach into my pocket and back up
giving the howling wind a chance to envelop it
"Goooooooo shhhhhh" The wind beckons me
As i snap a picture of my vibrant gem, my beloved.
I run to shelter myself from the shadows, smiling as i gaze down
looking upon my precious one... i see nothing...
A broken heart, trembling beneath a twisted and maimed body
stand among the shadow dancers and quake with fear.
The leaves and berries plummet to their death,
tearing from the fingertips of my once beloved.
I look forward, and my beloved stands beautifully among the dancers
but the image captured does not lie and cannot mask what is there
My mind plays tricks, seeing beauty taunting me, unable to capture it
just as love and happiness are seen but never in the snapshots of my heart.

Author notes
This is actually true. Certain places give me amazing clarity. Everything is so vibrant, bold and beautiful! each rock, every limb of every branch, even the handicap parking spaces just soar through my heart. But a picture, no matter how great can never see what i see, even when i try. Go figure.
Stil a work in progress... <#
