....just as a hungry kitten does....

A woman sits at a bar
her heart is racing
for she is still pondering the idea
of the engagement that awaits her

Her hair is held in long curls
and her makeup is perfect
She's longed for this, ever so long
Adjusting her bosom, she stares at the door

"Is he going to come?
Or will he stand me up?
Why would he?"
she converses within

"He's going to lap me up just as a hungry kitten does a bowl of warm milk"

Shaking her head,
the blond, about thirty years young
Ignores a call coming from her cell phone
It is her husband

A woman sits at a bar
She is calm and lights a cigarette
exhaling the cool smoke from her lungs
she blows it into the face of the blond

Coughing, the blond turns
glaring at the sight that sits beside her
An older woman, wrinkled face with grey locks
perhaps late fifties or early sixties

Her hair is held in long curls
and her makeup is perfect
"Do you mind?
I choose not to smoke, thank you"

"Oh Sugar, I know what you are
and I know why you are here"
the older woman orders a double scotch
"another Sambuca and Budweiser for you?"

"Have you been watching me?
How do you know..."
"Like I said...." taking a gulp from her scotch
"I even know what's going through your horny lil mind"

"He's going to lap me up just as a hungry kitten does a bowl of warm milk"

"How dare you! Who do you think you are!"
Taking the last drag of her cigarette
before butting it out, the older woman replies,
"Don't do it, Sugar. Go home to your children. They need a mother"

Finishing the last of her scotch, she throws down a twenty
"He'll never really love you"
And with that being said, she leaves.
Curly haired blond tips back her shot and starts on her third beer.

Filled with turmoil she consumes the beer as quickly as possible
Butterflies ravage her stomach, " I need to go home.
How did she know? She's right. What am I thinking?"
Swallowing up the last drop, she grabs her keys.

"Where are you going so quickly?  I thought we had a date?"
A large hand presses on her shoulder and another plays in her hair.
"You look beautiful, as always, Sugar"
He leans in and kisses her cheek, "Bartender! Two Buds, two Bucas"

"She's going to lap me up just as a hungry kitten does a bowl of warm milk"

I get the whole "present meeting the future". That's really cool how you wrote it like that. A perplexing tale of lies, cheatings, and heartbreaks. Very entertaining in a very dramatic way.

    Thanks for sharing (:

awesome write, I love the idea of present meeting future! What I wouldn't give to seriously have that happen. Wouldn't it be great if for all of the major events in our lives our future self could come back and let us know some how which decision will be best in the long run. Great write!

Had that old movie feel to it....
    the old black and whites...
i imagined piano music from the 40's playing in the background..
    This really was creative...
It also put that old Edward Hopper painting...Nighthawks...
of a sparse late night diner setting......somewhere to gather her thoughts...
    Very intriuging lass....
Held the reader with good format and an interesting story line.
I enjoyed it little gypsy...thank you.

    Bless your
    heart lass,
    Laim
