why i write

i write because i want to
it gives me piece of mind
it takes me away from my hectic pace
of the daily grind

i write because i have to
the words won't leave me be
they rattle around in my head
until i set them free

i write because i like to
i feel better when i do
i only please myself
not him or her or you

my emotions come out when i'm writing
i can revisit them every time
when i read the writings
that i choose to call as mine

if you want to truly know me
just read things that i have penned
that should give you some idea
if you'd like to be my friend

    Peace of mind from writing is a wonderful thing, spilling our hears on the page and letting all know "US" through font on a screen. there is no other medium as expressive in my opinion, music might be a close second, but some things are just not that musical.
