Head above the surface now
No longer gasping for breath
or wide eyed at the sting of the cold air
But comfortably treading water
watching you
waiting for you
Knowing
- deep down -
that we'll come through.
And one day
I'll take you somewhere
to show you who I am
to show you who you are
to me
and we'll sit amongst the trees
with the sky high above us
the summer sun
casting dappled shadows
while we talk.
And as the sun sinks lower
we'll wander back down
the old beaten track
that I know so well.
And there will be no more confused silenced
no more aching distances
no more burning questions in my heart
for my heart will smile
as it does now
when your eyes glimmer
with happy memories...
And your eyes
will not be the only sign
that you
like me
still believe.
What did you think?

I like the way that this is the next chapter after "Drowning". I have a huge soft spot for poems that link together, that talk to each other...that share ideas and lines. (you had another recently about sitting amongst the trees...I'll look for it in a moment)
It has a visionary feel about it...but is rooted in nature....and such hope...such sweet hope.
this is beautiful in so many ways (structure, each phrase, ideas etc)
Look forward to the next instalment.
