On the eve of Halloween,
We venture through the worlds of many a great mind.
We go where the wild things are,
Shake hands with a singing skeleton and his rag doll queen,
And fly high with monkeys and witches who'll get you
And your little dog, too.
We meet men with scissors for hands
And women who dance till they fall to the ground.
We bring back Egyptian mummies and dragon emperors,
Vampiric counts and a beast made from the bodies of seven men
With books,
Blood,
And the occasional threatening lightning strike.
The creatures of the night howl in response
To the bright full moon overhead
And we all crawl through the brushes of the forbidden forest
To watch wizards and unicorns.
Griffons swoop down upon an army of talking beasts
And orcs scramble to find the one ring to rule them all.
While the dead make merry every night
And the living sleep in cold silence,
We've made a pact with the ghosts
To find their eyes and set them free.
We race through mazes to save our families
From goblins and fiends.
We light a candle to find a fallen star,
Whose heart is more valuable than any other's.
We grace the seas with ruthless pirates,
Searching for cursed treasure and the lords of the sea.
Aliens come from outer space to meet us,
Bringing with them either peace or war.
Halloween is a magical time
And we all know it well.
We can take the worlds of others into our hands
And make the nightmares our dreams
And the tricks our treats.
