Clouds roll in and then soon leave,
seeming heartless as they depart.
Coming and going like waves of grief,
the pyre that mocks your heart.
Your body has known it cradled life,
and now the life is gone.
Now your ache is its own strife.
You're challenged to move along.
As is the love, so great the grief.
We're sure that you know this.
Its love is gone and you must weep.
You know whom you miss.
You will still miss the unknown one.
The ache will find its space.
Now struck down, but not undone,
you'll return to a sunlit place.
For now your grief is its own witness
to love for an unseen soul.
So let the clouds see your heart's fitness.
Grieve until your whole.
seeming heartless as they depart.
Author notes
It was my intent to express sympathy, while saying it will be okay.
My hope is that this honored your grief and gave the respect its owner deserves.
Your grief is evidence to the greatness of your love.
For what it's worth, I am very sorry.

Something King David said about losing an infant son:
"But why should I fast when he is dead? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him one day, but he cannot return to me.” -2 Samuel 12:23
"I will go to him one day" David, a person after God's own heart, expected to see his child again.
