Losing her, the one I love,
with every passing day.
She looks at me with loving brown eyes,
trusting when I say;
“You’ll be alright, I’m here for you.”
So she sighs and goes to sleep.
Needing nothing but my love as I try so hard not to grieve
for the faithful companion who is not yet gone,
and never will leave my side.
She’s taught me true love, strength, and happiness,
in a short, half decade’s time.
She lies beside me, unaware, of the fate we both have to face;
Awareness as my bullet, ignorance her saving grace.
For her, each day, just like the last, will never come to end,
as long as she has me close to her,
her companion and best friend.
