Inheritance

She will wear that family face,
lips bowed into cherub smile;
eyes flashing blue of horizons--
beauty dimpling soft baby cheeks;

Her fingers grasping, just as lips suckle--
the warmth of love, food of the soul;
and such beginnings will become--
all your blessed endings .

As each day, and each stage passes
of gurgling laughter,
and syllables not understood--
but still prized.

Of little legs, unsteady.
then comically sure;
As she stands on feet--
poised to run into the future.

The turn of a tiny stubborn chin
leading her to discovery--
the awareness of self
and all that she is capable of;

And you, will look forever forward now.
Until the loveliness that is her -
brings her own family face --
back home to you;

Then you will look back
way back...
to find the beginnings,
of a family’s loving strength--

lying gracefully in its inheritance...

    Not much more to honestly say about this except it reads like a masterpiece.
