Some Assembly Required

15:30 12 October 2009 Monday
Mood: Pensive
Place: Room

Have I a life of merit?
Of measurable grace, unbreakable will, unpenetrated perseverance,
Lithe forgiveness... The extend of hand to the resenting drowning?

Can I count my stands against the sniper looking to pierce,
Concentrating on my chest to hit the very muscle with which I move?
Or do I resort to counting scraped knees, black eyes, bleeds,
Cemented, tatooed pain because of the imperfection in my tries?

My basement collects the things that call out to dust...
I've found black widows, who survive their infinitesimal size,
I've seen books, whose lines read the mind of an author and his thoughts,
I've come across furniture, that once seated us in union and heard our talks...
I feel my worth decrease when I let go even a thread of spiderweb,
A page of writings, a couch to sit upon... They have aged in the back of my mind.

I've grown from carousel spins, when screaming was not a cry of help,
I rode the thrill watching the world go by and I questioned:
"This space I take, have I paid for it? This horse that rides me, is it mine?"
My pocket had its tickets, but I had a seat next to peace, love, knowledge...
Then I knew, my youth was over. My dreams had to be owned,
I couldn't be starving to know things, thirsting to have a kindred soul,
Hurting because I allowed tears to become my only action,
Shaking because my fears and anxieties owned my name.

Have I a life to notice?
Only to tastefully critique, to unfathomably perfect, to savorably sample,
To experience and glimpse as one notion of life.... The arms reached out for human endeavor, for I became me-
Skin graph by skin graph
Transplant by transplant
Illness to health
Through assembly of what I was given.

Author notes

I read "When the Dawn Leaves."

Quotation:
"When one travels on train of eternity one must have a ticket to show to the train's Inspector on the checking time. The ticket name CONSCIOUSNESS. The name of the Train is "Me" the name of the Inspector is "I". (NOBODY GOES TO THE "I" without "ME").

Mmm tastes so good. I think you wont dissapoint that is for sure. You achieved very much of what your intent was, existential, introspective, and all of the above. I love your existential take on life in this piece. right now i tend to be favoring one belief, more negative than this piece. But what is life without hope. I think this piece does have light at the end and just really makes you think and reflect.

Your way with words never ceases to impress me, and i think i get better as a port, by simply reading your works

    Much love, Roy flynn

    • Quit eating my words, I'll be left speechless lol

      Hey ya Flynn,

Yeah, Im a pessimist, too. Can't help it but I have hope and it will light up all of those smokeless souls walking around thinking they are nothing but bones waiting to be etched with pain, because I know that's not true.

Don't be impressed, believe in yourself and that will be enough

      Much love and care,
      Kristy
