Love the Moment

Love the moment,
embracing it fully,
prevent if from leaving
unused or unchallenged,

by breathing in life,
breathing out strife.

Love the moment
and those that pass
through it, sharing
the gifts of self and life,

by giving what is uniquely you,
discarding any negative view.

Love the moment,
letting it rise in crescendo,
affirming your beliefs
as your heart tells you,

by reflecting graces  bestowed,
nourishing seeds sowed.

Love the moment,
preparing for the next,
facing ultimate conditions
with the resulting decisions,

by expecting the best,
accepting  the test.

Love each moment given to you...

..for each is a fleeting gift it seems,
the product of hopes and daydreams...

Dear M-C, what a beautiful inspirational poem you have written, it would inspire many into believing in themselves and realize how life is a gift to be lived every day.
I love it and I know someone else who does, she reads it every day.
Beautiful M-C and good luck in the voting.

Very wise words, done with poetic talent. I liked:
    'by breathing in life,
    breathing out strife'.

Most of the time we are preoccupied with thoughts about the past and future, hardly ever present.

When one needs to stay calm
the breathing is a great reminder
      to savor the moment!

And so easily the moments slip away
if we don't give them a smmile
      and use them well!

Very positive thoughts from a lovely Lady

Oh M-C I needed to read this tonight, am still battling with my health, plus some post op downers which Doctor tells me is normal, but not to extent of going under so, I shall keep reading your words you have written here and pick myself up and live and love every moment of the rest of my life with as much happiness I can get. Positive from this day forward. No more downers or illness, I promise YOU that I am going to be ok from now on and if I don't, give me a slap to remind me.
    Love Joan
The sweetest will rise again to walk the halls of AP sprinkling Angel dust once more, just as I have sprinkled it over myself.

There it is---sparkling in the air
as it gently touches all on the scene!

      Along with the angel dust,
      pull out a magnifying glass
and look for all the little
joys of happiness you can find!
      Magnified larger, perhaps they
      will obliterate the not-so-happy
      stuff!!!!

Oh, and of course, pleasant memories,
as the parade of ducks so close
that they may be right outside
      your window, rather than in
      another country!!

      We need to surround ourselves
      with all the happy thoughts
      and images we can summon,
to block out all the elements
      that are so unwelcome!!!!

      Picturing the angel dust---I think
it should come in a very large container
      like Johnson's Baby Powder!!!

      Take care, dear one!

Love and hugs...and some hot lemon/cinnamon tea to you!

    Good ideas

Dear M-C, this is the kind of dream we must nurture, to see the best around us and enjoy life as much as we can today. There are tests and challenges enough in life, how foolish it is to magnify them by too much thought.
I enjoyed reading, there is nice rhythm and the rhyming couplet rounds off each stanza. Your heart motif is one of my favourites. All the best to you, thanks for joining the contest!

Such a grand gift of wisdom
      you impart with your thought
"... how foolish it is to magnify
      them by too much thought..."
      in reference to challenges
      and tests. Right---zoom in
      on the happy moments and
      size down to miniscule what
      is not!!

      Thank you, Margaret, for the
careful read. I, too, am partial
      to the heart graphic---seemed
      appropriate for the theme!

When I hear people say they are just 'Killing time' I want to say 'Don't you realize how precious it is? Maybe it's just my age but the older I get the more I realize just how quickly it passes and how easily it is squandered. My husband had cancer and his time nearly ended
now every day I try to count my blessings, but we humans are fickle creatures and it is easy to slip back into old habits and ways and take it all for granted.

    A beautiful thought provoking read

Strange how this poem made me visualize myself standing on a bridge, looking only upstream at what is coming towards me, and not at what's already gone under the bridge. Infectious Thoughts !

I sat, enjoying the visuals, your words, at my age having known several life-threatenning events, accident, illness, stroke--letting it come in its own time, or not. Yours...
    yet also mine.

    Love the Moment!
    And all within it
    knowing it meant
    no waste of wit,

    but incandescent,
    it will surely fit
    our acknowledgement
    as you transmit

    such a magnificent
    view of summit:
    the scope and extent
    of your benefit!

It takes something beyond explaining to jog my muse to action like this!

I cannot hope to explain it, but with thanks, am left to consider its possible meanings on spiritual levels....like yours, beyond its words. Suffice to say, it is a privilege, because poems like that are rare. Personally I take no credit, passing it to you.
    Thank you.

So important to remember yet so easy to forget to do. I especially liked "expect the best and accept the test". I always think that each weathered storm prepares us somehow for the next one. Not always the easiest thing to keep in mind while the winds are still howling.

Very nicely done Aes and what I truly love best about this type of piece is that it usually will find someone who really needs to read it and make a difference.

And here is the "rest" of the story.

Staying up to catch all the Sunday morning into
afternoon talking heads, I snoozed late into the nite.
But caught "Brothers and Sisters" on ABC. Oh, tear
jerker. Kitty, Callista Flockhart, had been diagnosed
with lymphoma, and between specialists' appointments
it had spread, forcing her to choose between two treatment
options, one a trial in Boston. the other a more conventional
chemo in CA, their home. torn between family memebers
arguing for each side of the treatment, she takes about-to-
be sister-in-law wedding dress shopping, dousing the protests
of, "the wedding should wait," with a counter of "Tomorrow
we may all be hit by a bus."

Ah, the denial, keeping up a pretense, and then accepting
      the finality looming.

Ah, getting involved in fictional characters---but good it is not
a real life friend. But as the news came on (continued brrr 28 low)
the words started froming in my head. "Be still," I said to no avail!
      You know those moments!

The rest of the world might think me crazy, but I know you would
      understand!!

      Thank you, dear pix,

this is a sentiment often expressed, but not often with such deft lines and in such encompassing fashion.

very well done and nicely delivered.

Well I'm sure they'll read more into these words, those who have suffered from illness or escaped close calls. But we are all terminal and it's not hard once we hit 50 to understand that it's passing quickly and grabbing each moment and making it count becomes paramount.

Not only that, but nothing beats a clear mind, when there are no real worries to occupy your thoughts. Illness, serious bills, the wellness of family and friends...I've learned to try to live as simply as I can to limit those unsettling worries.

Bla, bla, bla. I bub too much.

Ah, Yem, you never bub too much.

One of the joys of life, bubbin' with Yem.
      Seriously!!!!

"Bubbin' With Yem" I hope I remember that. That'll be Ima's new list! I already have "Supper With Ima"

I like bubbin' Which is odd because I don't actually talk a lot, hardly at all. But put a little message box in front of me and I just see all the possibilities.

I'm out of here, hope you are feeling better!

      playing with the layout
      and the graphics.
