Beneath their feet

With an awed reverence I walk out onto this wondrous land
The wild beauty envelopes me within its lush green arms
Flowers perfume the cool air under the canopy of trees
Sadly, hesitantly my steps slowly turn towards home

As the sun slowly sets beyond the darkening horizon
Well drawing a quiet strength from the fading light
My gaze seeks out the stars above in contemplation
I tilt my head and listened to the sounds on the street

Staring around at the modern world the absurdity of it all
The pride and arrogance with which man conquered nature
Such majestic beauty forever lost beneath concrete and steel
I weep that future children may never experience the feel of grass

... Beneath their feet.

Author notes

This poem is kind of a stretch for me since it's free flowish style is not one that I have used before.

Instead of picking just 10 I ended up using all the words in the word bank. (except the second reverence as it was listed twice)

quiet, reverence, listened, gaze, land, pride, arrogance, horizon, contemplation, majestic, tilt, strength, experience, conquered, absurdity, home

    So true...

This reminds me of my walks in the park. It's sad that man had to destroy nature to live in it. Earth isn't slipping through our hands...man abused it and let it fall.
