She was the limelight
I was in kindergarten
the music teacher played ‘Puff the Magic Dragon’ on the phonograph
I imagined a puffy dragon
there was light outside
there was grass outside
cars
grocery stores
it was 1963…
1963?
I guess it wasn’t kindergarten, it must have been second or third grade
third grade
so long ago… memories dimming…
She was ‘beat’ personified, in female form
my older sister wanted to be her
high cheekbones
bangs
a guy on either side of her
( yes, it must have been the guys! )
She was star quality
she maintained it well.
I went on to play football in Junior High.
I guess you could say we shared the 60's.

ah I was smack dab in the middle, was lucky enough to be at the Newport folk festival when Dylan went electric, Woodstock, yea I was there I think grin, oh the memories this brings!

"I was there, I think..." lol- the only true response... I think I liked Dylan better in his hillbilly days (judging by all the Youtube footage! )

I shared the 60's too, as new born child
Would like to have been older
Those years sound wild!
Very cool slice-of-past write. A tribute worthy of the woman. Best of luck in
your contest! (puff the magic dragon lives on)

wild, yes, but I'd just as well brag about my quiet, peaceful days...!
