Around this time, every year
they let me out to go home.
What I do when they let me out
of course, they'll never get to know.
They think I'm home for the holiday,
with my family once a year but
for quite some time now, there has
been no one else here.
You see I was bored before, and
found a rather blunt knife, but
that was good enough for me to
use so off I went, into the night.
I found my neighbour first, who was
out with his grandkids, trick or treating
with the lot of them, but this night
was mine not his.
I asked for a moment of his time, and
carefully he approached, his mistake
really, I wasted no time in slitting his throat.
The kids all fell silent, then promptly
screamed. I walked off quite happily
leaving no trace at the scene.
The smells of autumn were fresh,
bonfires, crisp leaves and clean air -
but for some people it wasn't so wonderful
I imagine, unlucky for them I was there.
I returned sometime in the morning, parents
questioned where I had been, they saw
the blood on my clothes and as I expected
began to scream.
I shrugged lightly and ignored them, killing
hadn't satisfied my boredom but they
wouldn't leave me be and began dialing the police.
I sighed and without feeling sorry,
took a knife to mommy, within minutes
they were dead and I went upstairs to bed,
slept soundly and rose in the morn,
headed alone back to the ward.
That was last year, but it's Halloween again soon
I'll get to go home, to an empty house - of course
no one knows. This night is mine, and I'm likely
a threat, clinically insane... tell me, are you
scared yet?

I really liked this poem... You have be genuinely twisted are incredibly imaginative to write a piece like this... You do a good job at capturing the mood, the tension and the insanity comes across, not only in your words but in your sentence structure and phrasing... Well done!
