Life and death intermingle here. There is a melancholy tone written in these words although the rebirth and newness of Spring breathes in the same span and space. I love the brevity and the volume of thought that can be gotten from these few words. Yes! Genius!

    Much Love ♥

good memory, AJ, but as we love to say here in Northern California, "Duck the Fodgers!" The series I refuse to watch - Yankees-Dodgers. Can't root for either one. Poor Brooklyners. Great piece.

Joe Torre coming back to take on the Yankees... the team that so mishandled his departure that he can barely conceal his bitterness... sweet revenge perhaps, or do the might Yankees bitch slap his ass... it's a storyline a poet should love...lol

good point AJ - Torre has been one of my faves since his playing days in St. Louie - a "real" baseball dude. we'll see if the angles (and I use that term geometrically) can sneak past the yanks, pulls and jerks and make it an all Hell-A series. here's to baseball in October...

Never thought of Angels-Dodger... that's practically a subway series without the subways... now if only the Phillies would cooperate and get eliminated...lol

          cheers to baseball in October

good title... sad poem to me - maybe it's your tone. i was born on the day John Lennon died, not the exact day, but his death is something i always think of on my birthday, we seem to relate death and birth a lot.

Willie, Mickey and the Duke...Jackie and Roy, yes Brooklyn was devastated, such things really do become the markers along the way, divining time by the wake of events that touch...PK

Context is always incidental, isn't it.
    Neat piece, clean and tight.

Sad, this reminiscent reminder that all things mortal come to an end. Brilliantly written in spite of, or maybe because of its forlorn poetic ambiance.
Yet it says something loving of a life once lived.

You always say so much so succinctly, Al.
