A question mark : love's spark ? dark thoughts stark caught ?
Quest or request ? What wistful vista sketch
Uncertain decks fair face ? Has some base wretch
Embarked upon seduction ? Is change sought ?
Sweet nothings ? Transatlantic ticket bought
To guarantee dream destiny, wreath etch
In smiles, not care lines' sybilline twines ? Fetch
Overseas another life well wrought ?
Naught offers easy answer. Last resort ?
Mortar, bricks, altar ? Lonesome ? Two mast ketch
A-sail upon life's tide ? Short haul ? Long stretch ?
Reward ? Loss taught ? Eyes tender ? taut ? distraught ?
Knowledge alone in rhyme flows, free verse, prose,
Seldom sums soft glows, sweet scented rose.

Love the way you've shown the many possibilities suggested by Bouguereau's painting. A clever and finely-wrought acrostic.
Good one,
Bill

As always, your pen inspires this reader . You create
immeasurable beauty within each skillfully written piece,
the words wash over like a favorite melody, and I could
listen all day. well done, best luck in your contest. =)

This is a beautiful ache of a poem, Jonathan. Skillfully wrought from your intelligent quill, my Friend. The picture you chose happens to be one of my (many) favorites that Bouguereau painted. I prefer his portraits of innocence and daily life over his nudes, but they, too, are classically done,
I think. This is a lovely acrostic, of course. There is much to contemplate within these words, Scribe. Thank you for entering my contest, my Friend. Good luck, Sweetie.

Very artfully done Acrostic. I love writing these and you gave me some ideas for a variation of sorts. Please keep putting out writes like this so we can enjoy words so well penned.

I think you indirectly answered your own question in this piece with "Naught offers easy answer." There are infinite paths to take through life and who knows which one will lead to happiness. All we can do is test each one and hope we find something close to what our heart and mind desires. A lovely acrostic which sparks the mind into action with so soul searching many questions. The background for this poem is striking and I think suits it really well.
